OK   here we go DAy  one:

Had a bench built for me by one of the sickest power lifters, benchers on the planet.. Bill Crawford!!  We have it set up in my son's play room, David---move over kid, time for Daddy to get strong and no one will take me in their gym.... and last night we took it for a ride...   training with Adam, who benched 440 raw  last week at 242  upstate new york--Tribes' Hill  baby,   we rocked  big time.. I have not touched a straight bar since I benched 500  in Dec.  so, Im feeling really good now, Know what I mean!!  let me tell you, "you are who you bench with"!!!!  And I train with one of the  most sick , naturally strongest "kids"  I can be his Dad!!!..  on the Planet!!  Adam is a freak!!!  he went up to 405 x 3 raw and strict to his chest!!!!  for an opener.. I  hit 405 x 3 raw off a 4 board..  Im no Adam, but training with him is great.

Our new gym is a "back to the basics" no friils  , no BS, no pus#@#$$'s    OLD SCHOOL DEAL!!  we train with Horse linament over our backs and shoulders  , At least I do!! and Ben Gay under the nose.... NOSe TORK before the lift and as for music,  Only the basics...  Black Sabbath, Nirvana,  Metalica, OLD WHO, Static -X, AC/CD....  any one got a problem with that???

We also have 2 mascot's; a pig (Olivia)  and an old school lab rat  named Ruby!! I swear, Ruby pops down the stairs to train with us and moves to Kurt Cobain's voice at super loud "Bill Crawford" volume music!!  What a freak show.........  you wonder why at the end of the work out I benched 315 x 6 close gripp off 2 board and Adam did 365 x reps close gripp...  until lil David drove his monster truck under the bar and Adam did a decline bench , as not to hit the damn kid in the head...  No problem for Adam... he is used to training in rough, unpredictable environments..........

we concluded the first night with me doing 225 close gripp to chest x 15  easy and Adam did 315 x so many, me and the pig fell asleep. SWEEEEEEET  WEEEEEEEEEE    WEEEEEEEEEE

at the end, we pumped up the bis and tris with some crazy dumbbell tricep rolls with 50s and I did my usual face breakers with 135  x 12... I think... we had dinner and wine and called it a night... we will be back  next week as we continue to train old school ... Keep it real and old school and Ill be at the Arnold next week.. any one wants to see me there, just email me and Ill try to hook up with you.....  next time we will start to film this blog with video clips and pics  for your enjoyment!!

Stay healthy and strong

Hi friends.. I am very sore from the first night!!!  OMG.  2 mos + off the bench is rough.  Did some D bells tonight 115s x 10 reps and on set 2, felt twinge in right pec. damn, so backed down, did some explosive light work  and cardio.. after Ice  and some wine...  good night!  Ill be back for next wedsday where Adam will kick my butt.  Im sure the pec will be ok.  and thats why at 45 I can not do full blown raw work. even though I loved rocking 325 x 6 close gripp to chest last fall!!  and got the right pec issue!!! at least not down to chest..  I have seen many men, over 40 have issues with soft tissue and that is why the boards and shirts are a dream come true    please take note of this, older lifters!!!!!

next weds    415 +  to 3 board  and 325 to 2 or 1 board for tris...  maybe, if still sore, ill give a few more days...  a good trick..  when your old, you can not train with the young guys on a q 7 day regimen.. I do well with   q  8--10  very interesting

Good night   stay heathy and strong

hey doc,

great to hear you took the record. its good to see that us old dogs keep coming back to bite.  question for you. whats your diet like? i know as we age they tell us to watch our fats/cholesterol but i find it difficult not having them an staying strong. and they say that cholesterol promotes testosterone. so how does one achieve this but stay heart healthy? im 42 an love the iron, but hate eatting like a bird, love the steak an potatoes, and whole eggs omega 3 in riched of course.

Hey  old man  whats up!!  good question, as an "old dog" I worry for my heart !!  so I try to stay lean and mean, hence the 500lb pound  bench at  198.  my bp and cholesterol are great (which is everything!!)  down at <200. I do it by basically limitimg my cals,.. and its tough, though I have to do it.. days I train hard, I do eat more (that is secret) and other days I dont really eat much!!  and I do cardio at least 4 days a week  hard!!  another secret.. being a bench "fag" lol  this is what Louie Simons called me!! I do not have to care about being so big  as I dont dead lift or squat anymore... for me its all about the heart, (good sex with my wife), kids and yeah keeping a good bench...  dont mess with your vitals!!!  over 40, your bench will improve, as your heart does well!!!

Secrets!!!

Stay  strong and healthy--  old dog , keep reading my MD article's and enjoy  as I grow the practice!!

Ok  one month off after 490 @ 198.. still weigh 200 and today at the refuge I benched 375 x 3 to chest in my huge size 60 pehnom ( I train in that shirt to protect  pec and shoulder-- too old to go raw!!)

really excited to stay at 198 and hit the 500 at next meet  and then over 500  !!  maybe at 198  or Ill bump up a bit to 220 class...  secret inside training this time.. will be :  heavy weighted dips, heavy face breakers, lat pulls, heavy  D bell chest presses  (140 x Cool incline presses over 275 x 8  raw.. heavier in shirt.. never have benched incline in shirt.. can you do it??  and usual drop sets with large shirt  for close gripps. for sets of   6  and 8...  and training in large shirt for reg  bench  sets of 3  to 5 reps.. should be close to 400 !!

Ill also try to go back to SDP...  new tweeks... and size.. it will take awhile so sit tight.. compete, say....  winter 2011  or maybe quick one  late fall . winter 2010..

Just happy to be in the game and feeling great.. healthy   Ill run my labs in a few months and post for world to see.....

stay strong and healthy
